Decide what you want to deliver, then choose a product. Fiction can start directly, without completing the world engine.

Three distinctions
Longform and short fiction have their own authoring flows. Short fiction focuses on whole-story structure and length control; longform emphasizes volume/chapter planning and sustained writing. Short fiction is not a switch inside the longform workbench.
Comics and motion-comic materials target different outputs. Comics manage pages, panels, reading order, and lettering. Motion-comic materials support video preproduction: storyboards and external-tool inputs, not video editing or finished films inside StoryForge.
Works and worlds can exist independently. Authors can explicitly derive worlds from longform or short fiction; later source edits do not synchronize automatically. Screenplays, comics, and motion-comic materials do not offer a “package as world” path.
